Impact is more than how many activities we host. We work to understand the relationships young women build, the knowledge and skills they gain, the opportunities they access, the leadership they demonstrate, and the contributions they make.

The Framework Behind the Work

Developing the Whole Young Woman

At Project Bridging, we understand that a young woman’s growth and development are influenced by more than what happens in the classroom. Her relationships, environment, family circumstances, access to resources, and opportunities all play a role in shaping her experiences and future.

That’s why our approach extends beyond traditional mentorship.

We provide intentional guidance and support during critical stages of growth and development, helping young women navigate challenges, build confidence, strengthen relationships, develop essential skills, and discover opportunities that may otherwise be beyond their reach.

Our work connects seven essential areas of growth, support, and opportunity.

1. A Place to Belong

Through sisterhood, culturally affirming mentorship, youth leadership, and community engagement, we create spaces where young women feel seen, heard, valued, and supported.

Our mentees build meaningful relationships, strengthen their identities, develop their voices, and learn that they have the power to influence decisions and lead change in their communities.

2. Space to Explore and Experience

We believe young women deserve opportunities to experience the world beyond their everyday surroundings.

Through educational excursions, outdoor recreation, cultural experiences, community exploration, and hands-on learning, we introduce mentees to new environments, perspectives, and possibilities.

These experiences encourage curiosity, promote wellness, and broaden their understanding of the world around them.

3. Support for Her Well-Being

A young woman cannot fully engage in opportunities when her essential needs and personal well-being are overlooked.

Through Thynk Pynk, Project Pocketbook, Supply the Hive, wellness education, and supportive mentorship, we help address barriers involving personal hygiene, menstrual health, emotional well-being, self-care, and healthy relationships.

We create supportive environments where young women can ask questions, express themselves, access resources, and develop healthy habits without judgment.

4. Supporting Her Beyond the Program

We recognize that young women bring their experiences, challenges, and family circumstances with them wherever they go.

Through family engagement, trusted relationships, community partnerships, and connections to local resources, we work to understand and respond to barriers that may affect their participation, stability, and development.

Our goal is to provide consistent support while helping families connect with additional assistance when needed.

5. Preparing Her for Economic Independence

We introduce young women to the knowledge, skills, and opportunities needed to make informed decisions about their futures.

Through Bee Empowered, Bee the Boss, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, career exploration, workforce readiness, and college preparation, mentees gain practical skills and exposure to pathways that support future economic stability.

We encourage young women to explore possibilities, develop initiative, build networks, and recognize opportunities for education, employment, leadership, and ownership.

6. Learning Beyond the Classroom

We believe learning should be engaging, relevant, culturally affirming, and connected to real-world experiences.

Through Bee University, literacy and critical thinking, STEM and innovation, civic education, leadership development, and experiential learning, we provide opportunities for mentees to strengthen academic skills while exploring their interests and developing new abilities.

Our approach encourages young women to question, discover, create, problem-solve, and apply what they learn.

7. Making Opportunities Accessible

We recognize that an opportunity only matters when a young woman can realistically participate in it.

Transportation challenges, program expenses, limited resources, and unfamiliar environments can prevent young women from accessing valuable experiences.

Through coordinated transportation, sponsorships, community partnerships, educational excursions, and efforts to reduce financial barriers, we work to make participation possible regardless of a family’s financial circumstances.

We are intentional about removing barriers between young women and the opportunities available to them.

How It All Connects

Project Bridging does not view mentorship, education, wellness, leadership, and access as separate efforts. Each is connected to the development of the whole young woman.

A young woman who feels supported is more likely to participate. Participation creates opportunities to learn. Learning builds knowledge and confidence. Exposure introduces new possibilities. Meaningful experiences help develop skills, relationships, and leadership.

That is why our approach centers on:

EXPOSURE • ACCESS • EXPERIENCE

We expose young women to possibilities, connect them to opportunities and resources, and provide experiences that help them grow.

Our Commitment

Project Bridging works to bridge the gaps and challenges young women may face while creating space for them to grow in confidence, knowledge, character, leadership, and purpose.

We are not simply preparing young women for their next grade level, graduation, or career.

We are investing in their development as whole individuals — equipping them with the relationships, resources, skills, experiences, and opportunities to navigate life, advocate for themselves, and lead change in their communities.
